Recently I’ve come up with a micro-self improvement system for improving fitness. Just a tiny change in my day to make me a little more fit, during a bit of time I’d probably otherwise wait.
Weights and coffee. It’s really simple. Get some small weights (I bought two 3kg dumbbells.) Each time you go to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee, lift the weights 100 times while waiting for the coffee to brew.
Work that into your days until it’s intuitive. You make coffee, and without really thinking about it, you grab the weights.
Then expand to include time in the kitchen cooking. Waiting for a pot of water to boil etc.
It adds up over the day. Soon you’ll be doing 400+ reps a day without losing any useful time.
That’s my micro-improvement tip for the day! I hope it helps:) – Tim
Hello World. The most basic of basic first blog post names, but somehow appropriate. I’ll go with it.
This is the first post for a new project. Like a baby opening its first eyes for the first time. A flicker of the eyelids, and the blurry image of three dimensional space and light comes into focus. Hello World.
Hello Word: the first thoughts of a suddenly sentient robot, whose soul.exe file has activated the phenomenon of self-aware consciousness.
Hello World, the first words written by every young programmer starting out. Displayed there on the screen, the words are their first step into a digital ream of infinite potential.
Hello World, and welcome to my blog. My name is Tim van de Vall. Some of you may know me from the printable educational content I create at Tim’s Printables. Others may know me as the author of the comic strip Ergo, which is online and, as of the date of this post, in two physical papers in Texas. Some of you may not know me at all.
Whatever the road that led you to this page, let me begin by telling you a bit about myself, and more importantly, how this blog may be relevant and useful to you. Because an author who does not benefit his audience is hardly an author at all. He might as well be on a desert island the middle of the pacific, broadcasting his message to the parrots and fauna. No, a content creator is most useful to the world when his message, the vision that he shares, resonates with the person who reads, hears, or sees it.
Here’s what you need to know about me. I enjoy exploring various things I find intuitively interesting. Why exactly I am passionate about some things, I don’t entirely know. I suppose it there is some deeply-rooted evolutionary standard of beauty and truth registered in the neurons of my body, and, like hearing a pianist strike a perfect chord, whenever I sense something that appears ‘right’ on some deep level, I feel passionate about it. When I’m passionate about an idea, story, image, song or other piece of content, I want to share it, in the hope that someone out there may also experience similar joy or benefit.
So, here are the things I am passionate about, that I may, at some time or another, touch on. If any of these things resonate with you, then maybe this blog will be beneficial to you:
Comics, 2D animation, Photoshop, Illustrator, Macs, PHP, cartooning, comic strips, comic strip writing, storytelling, creativity, superheroes, Kenner action figures, workflow, books, movies, audiobooks, music lyric analysis, writing analysis, philosophy, history, RV renovation, dogs, camping, Pink Floyd, Batman the Animated Series, Star Wars, European Comics, and animated movies.
Whenever possible, when I’m writing these posts, I’ll try to throw in a relevant Ergo comic strip.
I suppose this one makes sense. These are some of the words that reflect my view on life.
